WC,

Thanks for keeping me on my toes. From my understanding a light year is the distance that light can travel in one year.

Light travels at about 300,000 km per second. So that means one light-year is equal to 9,500,000,000,000 kilometers.

Either way, this world and universe is incredible. Thanks for reading!

Just a quick note on your usage of 'millions of light years ago'. 'Light Year' is a unit for distanct and not time.

Have a nice journey!
